Synopsis:

Rosemary's Baby is a 1967 best-selling horror novel by Ira Levin, his second published book.

The book centers on Rosemary Woodhouse, a young woman who has just moved into the Bramford, a New York apartment building, with her actor husband, Guy. Rosemary is initially warned that the Bramford has a disturbing past history, but she and Guy ignore this. Rosemary and Guy soon make friends with an eccentric elderly couple whose apartment backs up to their own, Minnie and Roman Castevet. Guy quickly becomes close with the Castevets. One night, Guy and Rosemary are planning a romantic dinner, but after eating a dessert, Rosemary begins feeling woozy and dreams that she is raped by something not human, while her elderly neighbors watch. Guy tells her that she just had a bad dream. Soon after, she discovers she is pregnant. As the pregnancy continues, Rosemary begins to suspect her elderly neighbors are not the kindly souls they appear to be. However, she soon finds out the horrible truth... . She is informed that she is the mother of the long-awaited anti-christ.

Synopsis:

Ender Wiggin, the third in a family of child geniuses, is selected by international military forces to save the world from destruction. Before being chosen Ender wears a unique monitor that allows the heads of the military to see things as Ender does. Ender's brother Peter and his sister Valentine also wore this monitor, although neither was selected, nor did they have it for as long as Ender, and Peter will never forgive Ender for this. Peter hates Ender, and even when the monitor is taken out it does nothing to decrease Peter's anger. The same is true of Ender's schoolmates, and he is forced into brutally beating the leader of a gang of bullies in order to protect himself. Although Valentine tries to protect Ender from Peter, he is only saved from his brother when Colonel Graff of the International Fleet comes to take Ender away to Battle School. Ender leaves behind Valentine, who loves him, in order to help save the world from the buggers.

Constitution

  • Official Club Motto: “So many books, so little time”
  • Unofficial Club Motto: “Don't give away the ending...”
  • Five officers.
  • An election is required for positions with two or more interested parties.
  • Officers may be elected instantly if only one person runs for the position.
  • Book Club meetings are every Wednesday from 2:10-3:00 P.M. in room 333 (Mrs. Coulter), unless otherwise noted.
  • Permission slips must be signed by parent or guardian prior to becoming an official member.
  • All members must make an effort to read all books assigned.
  • Members must attend at least half of all scheduled meetings.
  • Participation of all members required.
  • Book Club members must be in good standing with the school administration and the law.
  • All new members have to be approved by three or more officers before joining.
  • Consultation with sponsors and officers is required for all executive decisions.
